Sudbury Wolves and Northern Hockey Academy Expand Partnership
(Greater Sudbury, ON) – The Sudbury Wolves and Northern Hockey Academy (NHA) are excited to announce a major step forward in their partnership, as the Wolves officially lend their support of the NHA’s Spring AAA Hockey Program. As part of this exciting development, the program has been rebranded as the Northern Hockey Academy Wolves.
NHA first launched its Spring AAA teams last year, catering to players born between 2012 and 2016. The teams competed in top-tier tournaments across Southern Ontario, with the 2013 squad even traveling to Nashville, Tennessee. Despite being a relatively new program, NHA had an impressive showing, with several teams reaching semi-finals and finals—a notable accomplishment for mostly local Sudbury players going up against some of the best AAA teams from across Ontario and the U.S.
Looking ahead to the 2025 Spring AAA season, the NHA Wolves will proudly wear the Wolves’ iconic grey, blue, and white colors. The new logo was officially unveiled during a special ceremony at NHA’s Center Ice on Friday morning. The U12 AAA Sudbury Wolves, who represented NHA last spring, were present to celebrate the occasion.
With the full backing of the Sudbury Wolves, NHA plans to continue expanding its reach and developing young players by providing access to a wide range of resources. Blake Didone, head of the NHA Spring Hockey Program, shared his enthusiasm: “The top youth players in our community already represent the Wolves through their partnership with the Sudbury Minor Hockey Association at the AAA level and the Sudbury District Girls Hockey Association (SDGHA). These athletes love wearing the Wolves colors, and now they’ll continue to represent the city during the spring season. We’re extremely thankful for the Sudbury Wolves’ support in developing our players even further.
Dario Zulich, owner of the Sudbury Wolves, echoed that excitement, saying: “We’re thrilled to elevate this valuable partnership with NHA. Our mission is to provide young athletes with opportunities to grow and succeed, and this collaboration enables us to do just that. By supporting NHA, we’re giving these players the chance to wear the Wolves brand year-round and showcase their skills on an even bigger stage. It’s an exciting time for hockey in Sudbury, and we can’t wait to see these young athletes thrive.”
Be sure to catch the Wolves in action again this Friday, as they take on the Peterborough Petes.
