Storm Draft Flashbacks… 2007

The 2013 OHL Priority Selection will be conducted online on Saturday, April 6th. With the 12th choice of the draft, Guelph Storm GM and Vice President Mike Kelly along with his scouting staff will look to add a weapon to an already strong nucleus in Guelph for the 2013-14 season.

2007 OHL PRIORITY SELECTION

While the 2006 draft will be remembered for the many players that were shipped out by the Storm, Dave Barr’s 2007 draft brought in a number of players that became the foundation for the Storm for years to come.

With nearly 1,000 Storm regular season games combined and over 600 points, the 2006 Priority Selection was headlined by the club’s top two picks.  Both Peter Holland (pictured) and Taylor Beck played four seasons in the Royal City and together they scored 213 goals.

Also notable was the fact that not a single player selected went on to play NCAA hockey.  Each of Guelph’s top 7 picks and 8 of their top 9 played for the Storm during his OHL career.  Unlike a year earlier, only 2 players would be traded by the team.

As of 2012/13 two players from the 2007 draft have seen NHL duty.  Peter Holland made his debut in 2011/12 and Taylor Beck recently played his first NHL game for the Nashville Predators.
