Bertuzzi recalled by Red Wings
Former Guelph Storm forward Tyler Bertuzzi was recalled by the NHL’s Detroit Red Wings on Monday. Should he debut with the Red Wings, Bertuzzi will become the 50th Storm alumnus to play in the NHL.
Bertuzzi, 21, has appeared in nine games with Grand Rapids this season, where he currently sits tied for sixth in team scoring, with four points (two goals, two assists). During the 2015-16 season, Bertuzzi appeared in 71 games with the Griffins registering 30 points (12 goals, 18 assists) tied for ninth in team scoring, and led the team in penalty minutes.
In four seasons with Guelph, the Sudbury native played 201 regular season games collecting 172 points (72 goals, 100 assists), he also appeared in 38 playoff games with the Storm where he recorded (16 goals, 11 assists). Bertuzzi ranked 10th among OHL scorers with 98 points (43 goals, 55 assists) in 2014-15 and helped the Storm win the J. Ross Robertson Cup during the 2013-14 season.
