Team White takes game 2 at Training Camp
The Guelph Storm closed Day Two of 2017 Training Camp with their second scrimmage of the week as Team Red looked for redemption against Team White on Tuesday evening at The Sleeman Centre.
Team White jumped out to another early lead, as Matt Hotchkiss continued his hot start to camp scoring his fourth goal of the day.
Givani Smith would follow that up, with a slick toe drag wrist shot, giving Team White a 2-0 lead early in the first period.
Team Red continued to fight their way back into the game and would get one back, as Keegan Stevenson buried the buzzer beater to pull Team Red to within one.
The momentum continued to shift in the middle frame, and Team Red would tie it up on defenceman Bradon Caruso’s wrist shot.
Team White would reclaim the lead, as Isaac Ratcliffe scored with a skill move in close.
After 40-minutes of play, Team White led 3-2.
Down by one, Team Red wasted no time in the third period tying the game, as James McEwan scored his second goal of the day, just one minute into the period.
The game would remain tied into the dying minutes of the game, and it would be Dimello Smith of Team White to break the tie with just three minutes to go.
Hotchkiss would score an empty net goal and Dennis Golovatchev would add another as Team White went on to 6-3.
Nico Daws (opening 30-minutes) and James Walker (closing 30-minutes) manned the goal for Team Red, while Nick Haas (opening 30-minutes) and Richard Ledek (closing 30-minutes) were between the pipes for Team Red.
