Guelph Storm Donate $10,000 to Guelph Wish Fund for Children
The Guelph Storm pledged to donate $10,000 to a local charity if the OHL’s best fans filled the Sleeman Centre with over 4,000 people for the first home game of the playoffs. Storm fans did that and more, filling the stands with a standing-room-only crowd of 4,635! Last week Captain Braeden Bowman proudly presented a cheque for $10,000 to Guelph Wish Fund for Children on behalf of the Guelph Storm.
The donation will benefit the Guelph Wish Fund for Children in their quest to provide wishes to support children under the age of 19 and their families, residing in Guelph or Wellington County, who are living with a rare debilitating syndrome, a significant illness or a life-altering injury.
“Thanks to the generous support of the Guelph Storm, the Guelph Wish Fund for Children continues to bring smiles and joy to local children facing life-threatening illnesses. Their contribution, given through the Linamar Bonspiel for Kids curling event, enables us to fulfill more wishes, creating lasting memories for wish children and their families.”
Linamar is not only a proud partner of the Guelph Storm but also of Guelph Wish Fund for Children. Each year Linamar hosts Curling for Kids Bonspiel in support of Guelph Wish Fund for Children, through the years the event has raised over $400,000 for kids in Guelph and Wellington.
The Guelph Storm players, staff, and ownership would like to thank the fans for their support!
About Guelph Wish Fund for Children
The Guelph Wish Fund for Children supports children and their families facing a medical challenge by providing a ‘wish’ that makes the children’s lives a little happier.
We provide hope, strength, and joy to children and their families during a very difficult time. We partner with our community, our tireless volunteers, and the generosity of many individuals, groups and businesses, to provide a special experience or family necessities to all deserving children who are facing a significant or life-altering disease, injury or medical challenge in our community. On occasion, we also support other organizations in the community that serve these children.
We have a dynamic volunteer Board, professional staff, and a rich base of dedicated community supporters and volunteers. GWFC successfully engages in proactive outreach and actively communicates to the community about the work it does. The organization is well-managed and financially self-reliant.
