Jett Luchanko Named William Hanley Trophy Recipient
The Ontario Hockey League announced today that Storm forward Jett Luchanko has been named the recipient of the William Hanley Trophy as the league’s Most Sportsmanlike Player. Luchanko is the fourth Guelph Storm player to boast the honours and the most recent to win since Nick Suzuki in the 2018/2019 season.
Luchanko finished the regular season with a career-high and led the team with 74 points (20 goals, 54 assists) while amassing 36 penalty minutes. The London, ON native, has appeared in 114 games through 2-seasons collecting 88 points. This season Luchanko was recognized in the OHL Western Conference Coaches poll finishing second in the following categories: Smartest Player, Hardest Worker, Best Skater category, and Best Shootout Shooter. Luchanko is a 2024 NHL Draft prospect and was most recently ranked 20th overall among North American Skaters on NHL Central Scouting Final Rankings.
The William Hanley Trophy is awarded each year based on a selection by the 20 General Managers of the Ontario Hockey League. All 20 teams submit a nominee but are not permitted to vote for their own candidate with players receiving five points for a first-place vote, three points for a second-place vote, and one point for a third-place vote. The trophy is presented by the OHL to commemorate William Hanley, former Secretary-Manager of the Ontario Hockey Association for over 25 years.
