Storm acquire overage defenceman Cameron Supryka from the Sarnia Sting
General Manager and Head Coach George Burnett announced Monday that the Storm have acquired overage defenceman Cameron Supryka from the Sarnia Sting in exchange for a 9th round selection in the 2024 OHL Priority Draft.
A native of Belleville, ON, Supryka was originally selected in the third round (60th overall) of the 2017 Ontario Hockey league Priority Selection by the Peterborough Petes. A left shot defender, the 20 year old was traded to the Sting from the Hamilton Bulldogs to start the 2021-22 season. In 12 games this season, the 6’02” 185lbs. defenceman has recorded one goal and four assists for 5 points. An outstanding skater with the ability to move the puck, Supryka’s five years of OHL experience will provide leadership and help solidify the Storm blueline.
“I’m excited about the opportunity in Guelph,” said Supryka. “Being traded is never easy, but I look forward to meeting this group that has had a really strong start to the season and I’m hoping to contribute in anyway I can for more team success.”
Supryka will join the rest of the Storm at the Sleeman Centre this coming weekend to host the Owen Sound Attack on Friday night at 7:30pm and the Sarnia Sting on Saturday at 4pm.
