BRAMPTON, ON — The Brampton Steelheads are proud to announce the return of their 2nd Annual Women in Sports Game, taking place Saturday, February 7 at 4:00 p.m. at the CAA Centre, as the Steelheads face off against the Sarnia Sting.
Prior to puck drop, we’ll be hosting a Women in Sports panel discussion featuring:

Ahead of puck drop, we’ll be having a Women in Sports panel at 1:30pm, hosted by Julia Torcheri (Jocks N’ Jills, Official PWHL Podcast).The conversation provides aspiring sports enthusiasts with the opportunity to learn from, connect with, and be inspired by leaders who are shaping the future of sport. Following the panel, attendees are invited to a networking session with our panelists, encouraging continued conversation ahead of the 4:00pm puck drop.

Clara Van Wieren – Clara Van Wieren is a forward with the Toronto Sceptres of the PWHL. Clara will be signing autographs during the first intermission out on the concourse.
Learn More About the Host:
Julia Tocheri – Julia Tocheri is a prominent Canadian sports media figure and broadcaster from Thunder Bay, Ontario, who has successfully turned her lifelong love for hockey into a thriving career. Growing up playing minor hockey in Northwestern Ontario, she pursued her passion by studying sports media at Ryerson University, where she gained initial on-air experience with the university’s Rams Live. She then hosted games for the Mississauga Steelheads in the Ontario Hockey League before joining TSN’s BarDown team, where she produced digital content, hosted live events, and covered significant hockey events such as the CHL and Memorial Cup. Additionally, she co-hosted Leafs Lunch on TSN 1050 from 2021 to 2023, making her one of the few women in Canada to lead an all-sports radio show.
Beyond her work in traditional and digital media, Julia co-hosts the popular Jocks in Jills podcast, a notable women’s hockey show created within the Professional Women’s Hockey League (PWHL) Media House, alongside former Olympian Tessa Bonhomme. The podcast showcases stories from both established stars and rising talent in women’s hockey, providing insights into the sport’s culture and its key figures. Since its debut during the PWHL’s inaugural season and its integration into the league’s media efforts, Jocks in Jills has broadened its content offerings, effectively connecting fans with the personalities and narratives shaping women’s hockey. Tocheri’s career is a testament to her strong hockey background and her commitment to amplifying women’s voices in sports broadcasting.
Meet Our Panelists:
Meghan Chayka: Meghan Chayka is a key figure in hockey analytics and sports innovation, renowned for her contributions to data-driven decision-making in the sport. As the Co-Founder/CEO of Stathletes, a hockey analytics company, she leverages advanced data tracking and performance metrics to support teams, leagues, and media outlets. Through her work with Stathletes, Chayka has played a vital role in transforming how hockey performance is assessed, offering insights that surpass traditional statistics.
Chayka actively champions the advancement and visibility of women in sports and sports technology. She has held senior leadership positions focused on analytics and innovation at the professional level, significantly contributing to the strategic development of women’s professional hockey. She is on the board of advisors of US Integrity in the sports betting space. Meghan has a weekly segment on TSN called “Strength in Numbers” for FanDuel. She has appeared in the last two NHL Drafts as an analyst on the panel for ESPN. Her efforts have made a considerable impact on the application of data to improve competitive standards, enhance fan engagement, and ensure league sustainability, positioning her as a pioneer at the crossroads of sports, analytics, and gender equity.
Sarah Orban: Sarah Orban is a Canadian track cyclist and international medalist specializing in the sprint disciplines, with a growing list of podium finishes across Pan American, Commonwealth, and UCI competitions.
She won bronze in the team sprint at the Santiago 2023 Pan American Games alongside Jackie Boyle and Emy Savard, while also reaching the quarterfinals in the individual sprint and finishing sixth overall. Earlier in 2023, she captured silver in the team sprint at the Pan American Championships with Boyle and Lauriane Genest.
Orban is a Pan American Championships gold medalist (2022 team sprint) and a Commonwealth Games silver medalist (2022 team sprint), where she also reached the sprint quarterfinals. She has competed at four consecutive UCI World Track Championships since 2020 and has been part of three straight top-eight team sprint finishes.
She made her UCI Nations Cup debut in 2020 and has earned six career Nations Cup podiums, including a double silver performance in Milton in 2023. Identified through RBC Training Ground in 2017, Orban transitioned from varsity soccer and track and field at the University of Lethbridge to become a key member of Canada’s national cycling team.
Gabi Best: Gabi Best is a highly skilled marketing and communications expert with significant experience in the Canadian golf industry. She has a background in brand storytelling, content creation, and strategic communications. Currently, she is the Director of Marketing at The Pulpit Club, where she spearheads creative projects and communications strategies that bring the club’s identity to life. Her career progression at The Pulpit Club, from Communications Coordinator to Communications Manager, and now Director, demonstrates her leadership qualities, vision, and influence. In addition to her position at The Pulpit Club, she is a Co-Founder and the Director of Content and Design at Ballyhoo Communications, showcasing her entrepreneurial spirit and creative flair.
Before these roles, Gabi was a Tournament Assistant at Golf Canada, where she contributed to prominent events such as the RBC Canadian Open and the CP Women’s Open. She also gained experience as an Integrated Media Intern at Weber Shandwick, supporting significant national brands. Collectively, Gabi’s diverse background illustrates a vibrant career rooted in creativity, strategy, and a commitment to enhancing brands through effective communication.
Hayley McGoldrick: Hayley McGoldrick is an accomplished sports writer, content creator, and social media professional specializing in storytelling across women’s sports and major international competitions. With more than five years of industry experience, she has built a career at the intersection of journalism, digital media, and community engagement.
Hayley currently serves as Manager of Social Media Marketing for the Toronto Tempo, where she leads platform strategy, live event coverage, and community engagement for Canada’s first WNBA team. Alongside this role, she contributes as a writer and content creator for organizations including the Canadian Olympic Committee, FIBA Americas, Ontario University Athletics, and multiple national media outlets. Her work spans Olympic Games, professional basketball, football, hockey, and soccer, with on-camera experience for CTV News and feature writing for Sportsnet, the Toronto Star, CFL.ca, Yahoo Sports, and theScore. Known for her ability to humanize athletes through storytelling, Hayley brings a results-driven, community-first approach to content creation.
Jaqueline Doorey: Jacqueline Doorey is an accomplished sports media professional and producer with over a decade of experience across broadcasting, digital media, and professional sports organizations. She currently serves as the Supervising Producer for the Toronto Maple Leafs and Toronto Argonauts at Maple Leaf Sports & Entertainment (MLSE), where she leads content production and storytelling for two of Canada’s premier sports franchises.
Jacqueline previously worked as a Producer at MLSE, building on a strong foundation developed during her eight-year tenure at CBC as a Host and Producer. During her time at CBC, she contributed to both broadcast and digital platforms, honing her skills in live production, communication, and audience engagement.
Her career also includes roles with the Hamilton Tiger-Cats as a TV Host, Rogers Communications as an Access Peel Reporter, and early experience in radio, marketing, writing, and photography. Jacqueline’s diverse background across television, radio, digital, and sports media reflects her versatility, leadership, and long-standing commitment to sports storytelling and brand development.
Rachel Yerxa: Rachel Yerxa is a seasoned professional in the sports business sector, possessing a robust background in partnership sales, account management, and relationship servicing across prominent sports organizations. Currently, she serves as Manager of Partnership Sales and Service at Inter Toronto FC, where she oversees sponsorship activation and manages partnerships in a high-performance soccer setting. Additionally, Rachel has cultivated a successful career at Maple Leaf Sports & Entertainment (MLSE), advancing from Account Executive to Account Manager. In this capacity, she worked closely with corporate partners to provide value-driven sponsorship solutions.
As a former elite student-athlete, Rachel was a goalkeeper for the Cape Breton University women’s soccer team from 2015 to 2020, during which she earned several Atlantic University Sport (AUS) championships and national U SPORTS medals. Rachel’s career reflects a smooth transition from high-performance sports to the business side of the industry, carrying with her a competitive mindset, leadership abilities, and a deep appreciation for sports culture in every role she undertakes.
