SmartStop Post-Game Recap – Power Outage
MISSISSAUGA, ON – The Mississauga Steelheads went 0/8 on the power play and lost 2-1 in overtime to the Oshawa Generals on Tuesday night
The Steelheads dropped a point against a conference rival tonight, but remain right in the thick of the race for home ice advantage in the playoffs.
The Steelheads (34-21-8-0) couldn’t get the full two points despite a masterful performance from Ryerson Leenders. Chas Sharpe scored the lone Mississauga goal.
The Generals (36-19-7-2) remain in first place in the Eastern Conference with the win. Dylan Roobroeck scored the game tying goal, while Luca Marrelli won the game in overtime.
An Oshawa neutral zone turnover sparked a two on one opportunity for the Trout, and Sharpe took it himself and sniped the puck short side to open the scoring.
The second period was highlighted by a number of strong saves by Leenders.
The Steelheads turned the puck over behind their net halfway through the third period, and Roobroeck made them pay when he scored over a sprawling Leenders.
Marrelli found space in front of the net in overtime and beat Leenders after just 45 seconds.
