Josef Eichler

Josef Eichler is a Czech defenseman born on December 14, 2005, in Benešov, Czechia. Eichler was selected 46th overall by the Spitfires in the 2023 CHL Import Draft and signed with the team later that year. Known for his physical, hard-hitting style, Eichler quickly established himself as a tough presence on the blue line. During his 2023-2024 rookie season, he played 64 games, contributing five goals, seven assists, and accumulating 128 penalty minutes. Despite his aggressive approach, Eichler has shown improved discipline and increased offensive production in the 2024-2025 season, recording two goals, 14 assists, and reducing his penalty minutes to 74.

Eichler’s game is defined by his strong defensive play, effective board battles, and ability to deliver impactful hits. While he primarily thrives in a shutdown role, he has also demonstrated the ability to contribute offensively when needed. His size, strength, and commitment to physical hockey make him a valuable asset to the Spitfires’ defensive core. As Eichler continues to refine his game, his combination of toughness and defensive awareness will be crucial to Windsor’s success in the OHL.
