Thrilling Effort Falls Short as Spitfires Lose to London 7-4

The same could be said a night ago, the Spitfires are in spoiler mode. Any points they can take away from games will be a learning experience and make it tough on their opponents come playoff time. The Spitfires have yet to solve the Knights going 0-4 this season while they were bale to win twice last year. On Sunday, the high-fire powered offence of the Knights were able to take down the Spitfires in a thrilling game.
In the first period, the Knights would score on a powerplay with a questionable tripping call on Cole Davis. The Spitfires would respond with a powerplay goal of their own as Cristoforo smacked in a rebound for his 7th of the season. The Knights would then go on a run of 4 unanswered goals in the span of 8 minutes. Taking a 5-1 lead. Just ahead of the final minute the Spitfires would break in 3 on 1 and Martin would find Smith back door for the tap in. The shots were 15-8 in favour of London after 20 minutes.
In the second period, the next would score just under two minutes in to make it a 6-2 lead. 10 minutes later the Spitfires would cut the lead in half as Abraham scored his 29th on the year. The Spitfires trailed 6-3 heading into the third period.
In the third period, just over eight minutes in the Spitfires scored as Zhugin buried his 20th and a sweet feed from Abraham. The Spitfires had a few powerplay chances down the stretch but could not convert. The Knights would add an empty netter with 28 seconds left and take this one 7-4.
The Spitfires are back in action on Thursday as the Erie Otters come to town. Puck drop is scheduled for 7:05pm.
