Spitfires Fall 8-2 in Season Opener to Sarnia
WINDSOR, ON.
The Spitfires were on the wrong side of a lopsided decision in Sarnia for the teams opener, losing by a score of 8-2.
In the first period, the Spitfires would strike first just 41 seconds in. Davis got the puck back to Jodoin at the point and his shot was stopped but the rebound bounced to the stick of Greentree and he potted the first goal of the season. Just less than four minutes later, the Sting would score to tie the game at 1. Sarnia would then rally off 3 unanswered goals to take a 4-1 lead heading into the intermission.
In the second period, the Sting would rally off 3 more goals for a 7-1 lead and seven unanswered goals.
In the third period, the Spitfires would make it a 7-2 game when Dionicio scored his first of the season on the powerplay. Late in the game the Sting would score to make it 8-2 and cruise to a win.
The Spitfires are back in action tomorrow Saturday September 30th as they faceoff against the Guelph Storm in our home opener. Puck drop is scheduled for 7:05pm.
