Game Preview: Attack Visit Spitfires on Thursday

Windsor, ON – The Spitfires are running out of time as another point slipped away on Sunday afternoon. Windsor fell to the hands of the Spirit by a score of 6-5 in the final 10 seconds of the game. The Spitfires will have to put it in their rear-view mirror and turn their focus to the Owen Sound Attack. Puck drop is set for 7:05 pm in Windsor at The WFCU Centre.

Head-to-Head:

The Spitfires head into Thursday’s game placed last in the OHL’s Western Conference with a 4-13-1-0 record. The Owen Sound Attack are currently placed 9^th in the conference with a 7-9-2-0 record. Most recently, they faced the Mississauga Steelheads at home where they lost 5-2.

Thursday’s contest will be the first of four meetings this season between the two clubs. Over the past five seasons, the Spitfires are 10-4-3-0 overall against the Attack and 6-2-1-0 in Windsor.

The last time the two teams met was last year on February 5^th 2024 at the WFCU Centre. The Spitfires won convincingly 8-1 in front of 4536 fans.

Scouting the Spitfires:

Liam Greentree (NHL draft eligible) leads the Spitfires in points (24) and goals (11). Greentree has 7 points in his last three games (3 goals, 4 assists).

Oliver Peer is 2nd behind Greentree with 22 points with 8 goals and 14 assists. Peer has a five-game point streak going which includes 8 points (3 goals, 5 assists).

Rodwin Dionicio (Anaheim Ducks) is third in points with 20 points in 16 games. Dionicio has recorded 8 assists in his last 4 games. On Sunday afternoon, Rodwin collected 3 assists which pushed his career OHL points to 101.

Scouting the Attack:

Their last time out, the Attack lost to the Steelheads in Owen Sound 5-2. Landen Hookey had a goal and an assist on the two goals scored by the Attack.

Overager Deni Goure leads the Attack with 21 points (10G, 11A). He has not registered a point in the last 3 contests and will be looking to get on the scoresheet Thursday night.

Sam Sedley is currently tied with Goure in points, he has 3 goals and 18 assists this season. He has recorded 3 assists in his last two games.

Cedrick Guindon (Montreal Canadiens) currently sits third in points on the Attack with 9 goals and 10 assists. Guindon was drafted in the 4^th round of 2022 NHL Entry draft to MTL.

Meanwhile, Colby Barlow (Winnipeg Jets) sits 6^th on the Attack with 14 points in 14 games (9G, 5A).

The Windsor Spitfires will head to Kitchener for a weekend home and home series against the Rangers. Puck drop is set for 7:00pm at The Aud on Friday. The Spitfires get back to The WFCU Centre on Saturday for Boxing night. The puck will drop at 7:05pm.
