FINAL (OT): Rangers 2, Attack 3
The Kitchener Rangers headed to face off with The Owen Sound Attack for the final game of the regular season. The Rangers looked to head into the playoffs on a high note by getting a win.
The Rangers started the game with good pressure on the Owen Sound defence, generating multiple chances but not being able to capitalize. Midway through the 1st period, Owen Sound scored on the powerplay to jump out to the 1-0 lead. Just after, Jack Harper responded by snapping a shot past Owen Sound’s Chenard, tying the game 1-1. Owen Sound had another powerplay opportunity but Jackson Parsons made two big saves to keep the game tied heading into the 2nd period.
The Rangers had an early powerplay chance but couldn’t sneak one past Chenard. The first half of the period consisted of lots of back and forth play, but neither team found the back of the net. With four minutes left in the 2nd, Navrin Mutter powered his way through the Owen Sound defence to score and grab the 2-1 lead.
Jackson Parsons started the 3rd period by making a huge cross-crease save to help the Rangers stay in the lead. Owen Sound capitalized on a powerplay opportunity to tie the game 2-2. Neither team managed to break the tie in the period, meaning the game needed overtime.
Owen Sound scored in overtime to win the game 3-2. Jackson Parsons played a solid game and made 46 saves in the overtime loss.
