Peterborough Petes Open 50th Anniversary Season

The Peterborough Petes opened their 50th Anniversary season with a bang.

Five Petes Alumni (one from every decade)opened the game with a ceremonial face off. Jim Dunne represented the 1950’s. My Dunne assisted on the first Petes goal ever scored. Stu Muirhead represented the 1960’s. Stu played in every game except one during his time with the Petes. Doug Gibson represented the 1970’s. Gibson was the Petes leading scorer two of his three seasons with the Petes. Ex Captain Dave Lorentz represented the 1980’s, while another ex captain, Mike Martone represented the 1990’s. Martone scored game winning goal in game 7 of OHL Championship Series Vs. Guelph in 1996 to put the Petes into the Memorial Cup. Current Pete, and Ennismore native Bryan Young represented the present Petes during the ceremonial face off.
