Electric City Kids Overpower Gens
The Petes opened their season not how they intended, falling short to the Otters by three goals. Nonetheless, the men in maroon stepped onto the ice determined to shift their record on Thursday evening against the arch-rival Oshawa Generals.
The electric city kids came out of the gates flying for their second regular season game. Chisholm, who creeped down into the slot to receive a beautiful pass from Ang in the corner, put the puck below Keyser’s blocker, allowing the Petes to take the lead early on.
DeNoble, Timleck and Ang made some magic down low in the first half of the period, doing a great job of cycling the puck. At 7:06 Babintsev sat in the sin bin for interference and although the Gens kept the Petes on their toes during the man advantage, multiple big saves by Wells kept the hometown boys in the lead.
The second half of the first period found the men in maroon scrambling for a bit in the defensive end however Wells once again was able to keep Oshawa off the scoreboard.
The Petes regrouped quickly into the second period with Ang entering the offensive zone immediately off of the face off. Gogolev took a penalty for slashing at 6:21 however that didn’t deter Paquette who netted his first goal of the season during the penalty kill.

The men in maroon took their foot off the gas for a minute when Antropov was able to put the puck past Wells off of a tip in, closing the gap between the Gens and Petes.
However Rollo came out of the neutral zone face off to surprise Oshawa’s defensemen, dangling around their entire lineup and giving the men in maroon a two goal lead. The period finished with a goal by Commisso, to make the score 3-2 for the hometown boys.
The third period started off with both rosters playing a more physical game that resulted in a penalty for the visitors. Captain DeNoble took advantage of the extra man, burying Ang’s missed shot into the General’s net. Ang kept the momentum going, scoring seconds after, for his first one of the season and leaving the Petes with a three goal lead.
The second half of the third was met with a 4 on 4 when Svoboda took a penalty for slashing and Allen for the roughing retaliation. The hometown kids sustained the lead for the remainder of the final period and clinched their first win of the season.
