Who Wore It Best: Celebrity Edition
There’s no doubt when concerts or special events roll into the Lift Lock City, musicians, comedians, and other professional artists feel welcomed and a part of Peterborough. Yes, we cheer them on, but most of them know how to turn the Electric City, electric, which is by walking on stage repping the Petes.
Today, we want YOU to tell us which celebrity represented the Petes brand the best, by voting for your favourite unlimitedly for the next 24 hours. Fans are encouraged to share any photos, and tag us, of their favourite celebrities donning a Petes jersey from over the years! Here is our pre-determined list of who we think wore it best:
Snoop Dogg: Snoop D.O. Double G visited the Peterborough Memorial Centre just over two years ago on May 16, 2019 as part of his celebration of 25 years of performing. Snoop Dogg has had 17 Grammy Award nominations and won 27 other awards with hits such as “Gin and Juice” and “Drop it Like It’s Hot.” The well-known hip-hop artist erupted the crown when he walked on stage wearing a customized Petes Jersey that had Snoop Dogg with #25 on the back.
Bubbles: On Thursday, May 29, 2008, the Trailer Park Boys (Ricky, Julian and Bubbles) became honourary Petes for a day when Bubbles was presented with a Petes jersey prior to their show at the PMC. During their show, Bubbles often referred to the Petes and Oshawa Generals as part of their stand-up comedy act.
Tessa Virtue: One of Canada’s most iconic figure skaters hit the ice with her skating partner, Scott Moir, at the PMC as part of “The Thank You Canada Tour”, following the announcement they’re stepping away from the sport on November 9, 2018. The lineup also included Thursday Night Live guest Patrick Chan and Kaetlyn Osmond.
The Reklaws: The Canadian sibling duo took the stage at Showplace as part of the virtual Peterborough Musicfest show on March 27, 2021. Just hours before the show, singers Stuart and Jenna released a video that encouraged fans to tune in, wearing Petes jerseys, which they also wore later on in their performance.
