Jonathan Ang among Top Performers at 2016 NHL Draft Combine

Petes forward Jonathan Ang put up excellent numbers at the 2016 NHL Draft Combine on the weekend in Buffalo, impressing scouts with top-10 rankings in six of fifteen categories. Ang’s pull-up result (15 reps) is the most of any prospect in the test’s three year history at the combine.

Ang, who is ranked 95^th among North American skaters by NHL Central Scouting ahead of the June 24-25 Draft, achieved high scores in the following tests:

• 1^st – Wingate Cycle Test (Mean Power Output) – 12.5 watts/kg (past top performers incl.: William Nylander)
• 1^st – Pull Ups Consecutive (Max #) – 15 reps (past top performers incl.: Josh Ho-Sang, Travis Konecny)
• 3^rd – Wingate Cycle Test (Peak Power Output) – 18.7 watts/kg (past top performers incl.: Alex Galchenyuk, William Nylander)
• 5^th – Standing Long Jump – 114.0 inches (past top performers incl.: Alex Galchenyuk, William Nylander)
• 6^th – Pro Agility Shuttle Run (Left) – 4.47 seconds (past top performers incl.: Jack Eichel)
• T-7^th – Bench Press – 13 reps (past top performers incl.: Ryan O’Reilly, Yannick Weber)

The Markham, Ontario native was Peterborough’s first round selection in the 2015 OHL Priority Selection. He set career highs last season with 21 goals, 28 assists and 49 points in 68 games played, and was the team’s leading scorer with 9 points in 7 playoff games.
