The Peterborough Petes are coming off of a 2-1 week which saw them pick up wins against the Sudbury Wolves and Kingston Frontenacs, while also falling to the second place Ottawa 67’s in Ottawa. The two wins gave Peterborough a bit of breathing room for fourth place in the Eastern Conference, putting themselves five points ahead of the Niagara IceDogs and North Bay Battalion.
It’s Country Night presented by KX 105 at the Peterborough Memorial Centre tonight as the Petes host the Owen Sound Attack for the only time this season. Peterborough will be looking for the season sweep against Owen Sound, after beating the attack 5-3 on the road on January 3. Leon Kolarik led the way for the Petes that night with three assists, while James Petrovski grabbed a couple helpers against his former team. There were a total of 12 power plays last time these two teams met, so expect there to be some bad blood carried over into tonight.
The Petes come into tonight’s game on a high note after ending Kingston’s eight game home win streak on Sunday. Braydon McCallum has been leading Peterborough’s offence as of late, picking up nine points in his last seven games. McCallum is now only five points off of his career high of 41, accomplished in 2023-24. Brennan Faulkner has also refound his scoring touch over the last few games, despite suiting up on defence due to some injuries on the back end. The overage forward has three goals in his last four games, inching ever closer to the 20 goal mark for the first time in his career.
All eyes will be on former Pete Caden Taylor tonight as he makes his return to Peterborough for the first time since being traded to the Attack. The 2007 born forward played in 107 games for Peterborough over parts of three seasons. Owen Sound’s offence runs through second year forward Pierce Mbuyi. The 2025 OHL rookie of the year leads the Attack in scoring with 25 goals and 53 points in 48 games played. Former Oshawa General Tristan Delisle has also been fantastic for the Attack this season, putting up a career high 45 points in 48 games.
Puck drop is scheduled for 7:05 p.m. at the Peterborough Memorial Centre. Limited tickets are still available by clicking here, calling (705) 743-3561, or by visiting the Grant Thornton Box Office during business hours. The game will also be broadcast live on YourTV Peterborough, Freq 90.5., and Flo Hockey.
