Former Peterborough Petes captain Brandon Prophet is the newest recruit with the Renfrew OPP detachment.
“Renfrew Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) would like to welcome Const. Brandon Prophet, who arrived in the Ottawa Valley in February 2021,” Renfrew OPP announced. “Const. Prophet is no stranger to teamwork and dedication, as he was a former Ontario Hockey League (OHL) player since the age of 16.”
Prophet began his hockey career with the Saginaw Spirit out of Michigan from 2012 to 2014. During that time, he was chosen to participate with Team Ontario for the Under 17 World Hockey Championship, which was hosted in Quebec in 2012.
Prophet was then traded to the Barrie Colts from 2014 to 2015, where he continued to play defence. He then finished his career with the Peterborough Petes from 2015 to 2017, where he was captain for his final season.
Prophet then went to Queen’s University, where he studied psychology and played with the men’s hockey team for one year.
He was hired by the OPP in August 2020 and arrived at the Ontario Police College in Aylmer in September.
The OPP actively recruits and interviews potential candidates throughout the year. Upon successful completion of the recruitment process, each provincial constable recruit must successfully complete the required training programs at both the Provincial Police Academy and the Ontario Police College.
