67’s edge Petes 6-5 in Overtime
The Peterborough Petes rebounded from a four game losing streak and a 4-2 deficit after 40 minutes to earn a point in an overtime loss tonight to the 67’s.
Slater Koekkoek opened the scoring for the Petes 4:07 into the game notching a power play marker, however, the 67’s came right back just 1:39 later with Tyler Toffoli’s 1st of 3 on the night at 5:46. Dylan Fitze restored the Petes lead scoring his 2nd of the season at 7:50, but again the 67’s evened the score at 13:55 on Toffoli’s 2nd of the game to send the teams to the dressing room tied at 2 afte rthe first period.
The 67’s jumped out to a 4-2 lead scoring at 10:14 of the 2nd period by Shane Prince and at 13:49 by Cody Ceci and the Petes were unable to mount a come back in the middle period.
Trailing 4-2 with 20 minutes to play the Petes mounted their comeback notching back to back goals at 5:25 and 7:37 by Lino Martschini and Stephen Nosad. The Petes took the lead for the 3rd time in the game at 9:29 of the third on Martschini’s second of the night but Sean Monahan evened the game and sent it to overtime at 11:15.
In overtime Toffoli completed the hat trick just 42 seconds in to make the final 6-5 for the 67’s.
Next action for the Petes is Saturday night in Belleville. They return home on Thursday November 3rd vs. the Soo Greyhounds on $6 student night at the PMC. All students can purchase a regular bowl ticket for just $6.
