Otters to ring Salvation Army bell next week

The Erie Otters will ring the bell in hopes of bringing in donations for the Salvation Army’s Red Kettle Campaign next week at Millcreek Mall.
Otters staff and players have participated in bell ringing for several years but now there is a new wrinkle added to the Red Kettle Campaign. The Otters will compete against the Erie SeaWolves and Erie BayHawks to see which team can raise the most money for the Salvation Army.
Monday and Tuesday, Otters staff will stand outside of the Millcreek Mall entrance at JCPenney (next to Ruby Tuesday’s) from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. From 6:00 p.m. and 8:00 p.m., Otters staff will be joined by players Liam Maaskant & Nick Betz (Monday) and Nathan Glass & Jake Evans (Tuesday).
The traditional red kettle traces back to 1891 in San Francisco, and has been an integral part of the Christmas scene, with millions of dollars donated each year to aid needy families, seniors, and the homeless, in keeping with the spirit of the season.
