WEEKEND PREVIEW: Two at the Bayshore
Erie, Pennsylvania. — The Otters are back on the bus to open up the month of December as they embark on their final road trip ahead of the holiday break.
The Otters began the month Tuesday at the Kitchener Memorial Auditorium with a battle with the Rangers. Erie then spends the rest of the weekend in Grey Bruce on the shores of the Georgian Bay in Owen Sound for the annual two-game road series with the Attack.

LAST TIME OUT
Wednesday would see the Otters welcome in the Brampton Steelheads for the one and only time this season as the Trout would search for a season series sweep against their foes from the Flagship City. Brampton would jump out with four unanswered goals before Dylan Edwards would score the teddy toss goal for the Otters, getting them on the board. Brampton would add one more before Jake Murray would find the back of the net getting Erie back within three. The Steelheads would play a strong final frame as they would escape the EIA with a 5-2 win.
Saturday would be all about Head Coach Kris Mallette on his bobblehead night. Erie would put in the performance to boot as well. Julius Saari would get Erie on the board early. The Petes would answer before the Otters would score four un-answered to earn a well-deserved lead that they would hold onto in a near mirror-image of Wednesday’s game, a 5-2 Otters win.
Erie would kick-off their three-game road trip Tuesday in Kitchener with the third contest of the season against the Rangers. Garrett Frazer would get Erie on the board just 33 seconds into the contest with Dylan Edwards scoring in his fifth-straight and Brett Hammond getting back in the goal column. Erie would go on to play a strong defensive second half of the game and escape with a 3-2 win, clinching the team’s first multi-game winning streak since September 27 and October 2.
Back to the Bayshore!
A strange, yet NHL style week for the Otters opened up in Kitchener on Tuesday with the third battle of the season with the Rangers. The Otters then close out the road portion of their season series with the Attack Friday and Saturday. Erie looks to get back at Owen Sound after dropping the season series opener on November 2.
WHO TO WATCH
Dylan Edwards continues to be the Otters’ hottest player. Coming off of a huge game Saturday, one where he tallied three points, he hopes to keep it rolling heading into the road trip. Edwards is coming off of a stellar month of November where he tallied 19 points (9G+10A) in 12 games. As the calendar turns to December, the Otters will look to their alternate captain to lead the way offensively.
Jake Murray is another Otter getting hot at the right time. This recent homestand was a strong one for the Otters’ first round pick. Murray had points in all but one of the four games at home, including back-to-back games with a goal on November 22 and 26. Murray also gets the chance to play in front of friends and family as he heads back to Owen Sound, just about 18 miles from where he grew up in Meaford.
KNOW THE FOE
Though they have been much improved this season, the Owen Sound Attack have hit a rough patch over recent weeks. Off the back of a comfortable win over the Kingston Frontenacs, they do hold the top spot in the Midwest Division but come into this weekend’s play 4-5-0-1 over their last 10. The trio of Pierce Mbuyi, Harry Nansi and Tristan Delisle lead the way offensively, each with at least 35 points. Carter George has been as solid as ever in between the pipes, leading the way defensively for the Attack. This Owen Sound team has given Erie trouble in the past and will certainly be a tough beast to tame, though perhaps the Otters are catching them at the right time.
