Otters Fall 2-1 to Owen Sound at Home
ERIE, PA – The Erie Otters returned to home ice on Wednesday evening to take on the Owen Sound Attack. Each team got an opportunity on the powerplay in the first ten minutes, and Gera Poddubnyi capitalized on a well place wrist shot to put the Otters ahead early for the only goal of the opening frame.
The second period opened with a goal from Daylon Groulx to tie the game up just 40 seconds in. The teams traded opportunities for the rest of the period, but failed to break the deadlock, and we headed into the final frame tied at one.
In the third, Owen Sound found the back of the net on the powerplay with a goal from Kevin Hancock. The Otters continued their efforts to tie the game up but ultimately fell short and dropped this one 2-1.
Erie goaltender Daniel Murphy stopped 49 of 51 Owen Sound shots for a new career high in saves and shots faced.
Kyle Maksimovich’s assist ties him with Alex DeBrincat for 4th most assists all-time in franchise history.
