Theriault Credits IceDogs for his Opportunity with the York University Lions

Hard work, dedication, and a proud family hockey legacy helped Niagara IceDogs’ centre Lucas Theriault (OA) earn his spot on the York University Lions men’s hockey team for the 2021-22 season. Theriault, who will study Kinesiology signed his commitment this Tuesday. 

“I am honoured to be a part of the YorkU Lions hockey program, and I can’t wait to get started with them. Super excited for this new opportunity,” Theriault said.

Lucas is quick to credit the IceDogs’ developmental program for boosting him to the university level, in particular the honing of his two-way game. “Playing for the IceDogs last season has made me an all-around better player. With the OHL being such a skilled league, I believe my defensive game and ability to make quick decisions has improved a lot.”

Developing with his hometown Soo Thunderbirds before joining the IceDogs. Theriault would earn both the Jimmy Conners Memorial Trophy (Scoring Champion) and Gilles Laperriere Trophy (Most Improved Player) in the 2018-19 season.

Theriault’s latest achievement marks another development milestone for the IceDogs’ family.

The organization wishes Lucas all the best in his future endeavours.
