Liam Ham Signs with IceDogs
The Niagara IceDogs announced today that defenseman Liam Ham has signed a standard player agreement with the club. Director of Player Personnel Joey Burke confirmed his signing earlier today. “This is a huge signing for the IceDogs organization, Liam is a player we have targeted strongly since his draft year, our staff basically followed him around the province we had such a strong interest. This past season Liam excelled with the Aurora Tigers Jr. A and proved once again that he is a player that fits the Niagara IceDogs style, and has the talent to immediately step in to our lineup and contribute.”
The 5’10, 178lb Newmarket, Ontario native was selected from the York Simcoe Express of the OMHA in last year’s Ontario Hockey League draft. Over the 2014-15 regular season, Ham registered 11 goals and 27 points in 32 games. The following season, Ham took a year to focus on his development, joining the Aurora Tigers of the GOJHL. Despite competing against players who were much older, Ham was still able to produce an impressive 21 points over 54 games.
“Liam had received several NCAA Division 1 offers and commitments, but has decided to join the Niagara IceDogs family and we couldn’t be happier! Fans can expect to see a hard working great skating defenceman with strong vision, power in his game who moves and shoots the puck extremely well and knows how to play in his own zone. We are absolutely thrilled to add Liam to the IceDogs family, and look forward to a bright future together!”
Ham was Niagara’s 6th round pick (112th overall) in the 2015 OHL Priority Selection
