IceDogs Win Big in OT Thriller
The IceDogs took Game 2 of this series and will head home with a 2-0 series advantage.
Niagara got off to a dominant start in this one, controlling the pace of play and outshooting Kingston a whopping 16-5 through 20 minutes. After an early goal by the Fronts, Niagara decided that they didn’t like the feeling of being down by one. Kyle Langdon scored the first goal for the IceDogs on a great deflection on a shot by Blake Siebenaler. Niagara scored two more goals before period’s end thanks to Vince Dunn and Pavel Jenys.
In some good back-and-forth action in the second period, it was Kingston with the lone strike in the period, cutting the lead by one. To nobody’s suprise, Alex Nedeljkovic had another fantastic period, making a couple highlight reel stops and allowing his team to carry a 3-2 lead into the final period.
Kingston had control of the third period, scoring three goals in the final 20 minutes of regulation to push this one into extra time.
With just over a minute to go in overtime IceDogs captain Anthony DiFruscia lead by example, firing a smooth wrister past the Kingston goaltender for the 6-5 victory. Niagara took both games in Kingston and will now head home for games three and four where they will look to wrap up the series.
Tickets for Games 3 and 4 for the IceDogs at the Meridian Centre are now available and can be purchased at all Niagara IceDogs ticketing locations.
