IceDogs Outlast Petes in Shootout
The Niagara IceDogs defeated the Peterborough Petes 2-1 in a shootout Friday night at the Meridian Centre.
Both goalies, Brandon Hope for the IceDogs and Dylan Wells for the Petes, played well, keeping the game scoreless in the first period.
It wasn’t until 11:49 of the second period when the game saw its first goal. Nathan Pancel beat Hope to make it 1-0 Petes.
It stayed that way until 9:38 of the third period when Graham Knott redirected Ryan Mantha’s point shot past Wells for his 20th goal of the season. Neither team could break the deadlock and both teams earned a point after 60 minutes.
Overtime solved nothing, and goals from Billy Jenkins and Brendan Perlini gave the IceDogs the win in the shootout.
The IceDogs head to Barrie tomorrow night to take on the Colts, the second game of a three-in-three before heading to North Bay on Sunday.
