IceDogs Name Captains
The Niagara IceDogs are proud to announce that Head Coach and General Manager Marty Williamson has named Anthony DiFruscia as the team’s captain for the 2015-16 season!
DiFruscia, a native of Thorold, Ontario, was the 40th overall selection in the 2011 OHL Priority Selection. He has amassed 65 goals, 68 assists, in 203 regular season games with the IceDogs. Coach Williamson says that DiFrucia was a natural fit for the role, “Anthony has always been a guy that is all-in and invested in the IceDogs. This is such a big year, and that’s the kind of player that we wanted to be leading the team.”
Having served as an assistant captain for the past two seasons, DiFruscia is ready for the newly appointed position. “These last few years have been great for my development in a leadership role, and I’m just so honoured and excited for this next opportunity.”
DiFruscia will be the 8th captain in the franchise’s history, as he joins an esteemed group of IceDogs alumni that have also served in the respected role. The impressive list includes household names such as: Alex Pietrangelo, Ryan Strome, and most recently Carter Verhaghe. DiFruscia will be supported by Jordan Maletta and Aaron Haydon, who will serve as the two Assistant Captains.
Congratulations Anthony, Jordan, and Aaron!
