IceDogs in NHL Playoffs – Week 2 Recap
Carter Verhaeghe – Florida Panthers (6 G, 6 A, 12 PTS)
The Florida Panthers defeated the Capitals in Game 6 on Friday night to move on to the second round. Carter Verhaeghe has been a huge asset for the cats, trailing only Connor McDavid for most points during the 2021-22 Stanley Cup Playoffs thus far. In game 3, Verhaeghe opened up the scoring, and got the game winner in OT. Game 5, the Panthers defeated the Capitals 5-3. Verhaeghe had a record breaking night, playing a part in all five goals. He finished the night with two goals and three assists. Verhaeghe kept his point streak alive in game 6, with one goal and one assist. The Panthers start the 2nd round on Tuesday, as they take on the Tampa Bay Lightning in the battle of Florida.
Ryan Strome – New York Rangers (1 G, 5 A, 6 PTS)
Ryan Strome and the New York Rangers will be moving onto round 2, after defeating the Pittsburgh Penguins in game 7. The final three games were all about the passing plays for Strome, securing an assist in game 5, 6, and 7.
Jason Robertson – Dallas Stars (1 G, 3 A, 4 PTS)
Brett Ritchie – Calgary Flames
Brett Ritchie and the Calgary Flames defeated Jason Robertson and the Dallas Stars in double OT of game 7. The Stars relied on Robertson in the series, who was second on the team for points. Robertson opened up the scoring in game 5, and had an assist in game 6 and 7. Brett Ritchie has stayed off the score sheet.
Philip Tomasino – Nashville Predators
The Nashville Predators had a quick exit from the NHL Stanley Cup Playoffs, dropping the series 4-0 to the first place Colorado Avalanche. Tomasino played for three games in the series.
