IceDogs Fall to Barrie
The Niagara IceDogs fell 4-1 to the visiting Barrie Colts at the Meridian Centre Friday night.
The IceDogs would put together a strong first period, outshooting Barrie 13-10 in the frame, but it would be Barrie who would strike first, putting one in on a scramble around the net with only 31 seconds left in the period to make it 1-0 after one.
The second period would see the goaltenders continue their strong play as both IceDogs goaltender Brent Moran and Barrie starter Mackenzie Blackwood would be perfect in the frame to keep it at 1-0 after two. Shots after 40 were even at 19-19.
The IceDogs would continue to battle hard in the early part of the third and they would be rewarded just 46 seconds into the frame when Anthony DiFruscia would pick up his third of the season, on the powerplay to knot things at 1-1. The teams would go back and forth looking for the go ahead goal, but unfortunately it would be Barrie who would score next, retaking the lead with just under seven minutes to go. Barrie would then add another goal just 24 seconds later, before sealing things with a power play goal with 1:22 left to make it a 4-1 final. Final shots favoured the visitors 30-26.
The IceDogs will look to get back in the win column tomorrow night, when they visit the Peterborough Petes at 7:05pm. Fans can catch all the action live on 610 CKTB or TVCogeco.
The IceDogs will then return home next Thursday, October 8th when they look to exact some revenge on these same Barrie Colts! Tickets for this and all other IceDogs home games are still available and can be purchased at any IceDogs ticketing location!
