IceDogs Drop Game Two to Knights, 6-1
The Niagara IceDogs lost game two of the OHL finals on Saturday night, by a score of 6-1 to the London Knights.
The Dogs came out strong in the first; looking to do all they could to get the early advantage. Stephen Harper would get the Dogs on the board early, when he launched a one-timer from the point past a stunned Tyler Parsons, on a Dogs’ power play. The first period continued to be a high paced matchup as bodies were flying all over the ice, with both teams looking to get a physical edge. The Knights would manage to tie the game up with a late power play goal of their own and even it up before the intermission. The shots on goal were 8-7 for the Dogs at the period’s conclusion.
The Knights were able to find the upper hand in the second period as they scored three unanswered goals in the frame to take a 4-1 lead. The Dogs found themselves unable to generate as much offense in the period as they ran into some early penalty trouble. Shots on goal in the second were 12-8 for London.
The third period didn’t fare well for the Dogs either as London would get an early goal to start the period and then score a power play goal shortly after, to take the 6-1 lead and secure the game two win.
The Dogs will look to regroup as they head back to the Meridian Centre for Monday night’s game three. The Dogs have a perfect 7-0 home record so far in the playoffs and will look to keep that up, with the incredible support from the fans at home. The Dogs will also get a big boost in offense as Brendan Perlini will return to the lineup after having served his suspension. Both IceDogs’ home games have been sold out for over a week and the Meridian Centre is sure to be rocking and will be the place to be at.
