IceDogs Crush Wolves
The Niagara IceDogs scored four times in the second period as they beat the Sudbury Wolves 7-1 Tuesday night in Sudbury.
Carter Verhaeghe scored his 30th of the season at 14:41 of the first period to give the IceDogs a 1-0 lead. Pavel Jenys answered to make it 1-1, before Josh Ho-Sang beat Wolves goaltender Samuel Tanguay with 15 seconds remaining in the first to make it 2-1.
The floodgates opened in the second period for the IceDogs. Graham Knott scored twice to make it 4-1. Ho-Sang added his second of the game and 15th of the season and Billy Jenkins also scored his 15th to make it 6-1 after 40 minutes.
At 10:03 of the third period, Knott completed the hat-trick when he beat everyone to a rebound and put it past Tanguay to make it 7-1. That’s how it would finish as the IceDogs won their fourth straight game.
Brandon Hope made 22 saves in the win for the IceDogs.
They’re back at it Thursday night for a huge divisional matchup as they host the Barrie Colts at the Meridian Centre.
