IceDogs Acquire Vandenberg From The Rangers
NIAGARA, ON – The Niagara IceDogs have completed a trade with the Kitchener Rangers, involving two players and two draft picks. Full trade is as follows:
Niagara Receives:
- Marcus Vandenberg (G)
Kitchener Receives:
- Gabe Runco (D)
- 2nd round pick (ER) 2024
- 5th round pick (NIA) 2027
The 2004 born goalie, Vandenberg, is a product of Dorchester, ON and stands in at 5’11 165lbs. He began his OHL career during the 2021-2022 season with the Kitchener Rangers, appearing in 6 games while also playing for the Stratford Warriors in the GOJHL. With the Warriors Vandenberg posted an impressive .927 save percentage and a 2.15 GAA in 24 games played.
Vandenberg would then make the full-time jump to the OHL this past season with the Kitchener Rangers. As the backup to OHL champion Marco Costantini, Vandenberg appeared in 23 games posting a save percentage of .898 and a GAA of 3.31.

Runco, a 2005 born defenceman from Ancaster, On, appeared in 23 games this past season for the IceDogs after being acquired from the Peterborough Petes prior to the 2022-2023 OHL season.
