IceDogs Rally Late To Rescue A Point In Shootout Loss To Sting
SARNIA, ON – Late goals from Michael Podolioukh and Andrew Vermeulen push the game to extra time, however, the IceDogs fall in a shootout to the Sarnia Sting. The IceDogs now have points in nine of their last ten games.

Starting Goaltenders: Owen Flores (Niagara) – Karsen Chartier (Sarnia)
Fans would have to wait all period for the first goal of the game as the Sting finally broke the seal with 37 seconds remaining in the period through Sean Doherty, scoring his first career OHL goal. Owen Flores shined in the opening period stopping 16 of 17 shots he faced. Although not busy in the period, Sting goalie, Karen Chartier shut the door on a Michael Podolioukh breakaway. The Sting entered the middle frame with. a one goal lead.
The second period provided no scoring with both goalies making strong efforts in net. Sting goalie, Chartier carried his shutout into the final frame, stopping 18 shots through two periods of play. Owen Flores stayed strong as he had himself 27 saves as the game turned to the third period.
The Sting would add to their one goal lead midway through the frame as Panthers prospect, Sandis Vilmanis found the back of the net to extend the Sting lead to 2-0. The IceDogs would get one back via Mathieu Paris shorthanded, however the Sting would answer right back on the powerplay to regain their two goal lead. However, the IceDogs would not go away as Michael Podolioukh found the back of the net at the 13:49 mark to get the IceDogs back within one. With the period quickly winding down, Andrew Vermeulen would beat Chartier up high with only 2:11 left on the clock to push the game to overtime. Vermeulen has now scored in three consecutive games.
The Sting would take the game in a shootout with their third shooter, Andrew LeBlanc beating Owen Flores for the win.
