Brendan Perlini Voted Best IceDogs Left Winger of All Time
The Niagara IceDogs are proud to announce that recent graduate Brendan Perlini has been voted by fans as the best left winger in franchise history after collecting the most combined votes between the @OHLIceDogs Twitter poll and the NiagaraIceDogs.net fan poll.
Perlini made an immediate impact in the OHL after being acquired by the IceDogs in his rookie season through a trade with the Barrie Colts on January 9, 2013. Fate would have it that Perlini would prove his doubters in Barrie wrong, earning a regular spot in the IceDogs top six right from the start en route to what would become an historic junior career.
During his four year tenure with the IceDogs, Perlini tallied 92 goals and and 94 assists for a total of 186 regular season points. In the playoffs, Perlini buried 14 goals and 11 assists, totalling 25 points while leading the IceDogs to an Eastern Conference Championship in 2016.
Perlini expressed his gratitude for the selection: “It’s unbelievable for the fans of Niagara to vote me in for something like this! I’m very grateful that I got an opportunity to play 3 1/2 great years in Niagara. I not only developed as a hockey player, but a person as well. I have many people to thank from the organization, especially Mr. and Mrs. Burke, and my billet family, the Cookson’s. The fans of the IceDogs are the best in the OHL and I wish everyone continued success in the future!”
IceDogs Director of Player Personnel Joey Burke made it clear that he agrees with the fan’s decision: “Yet another great selection by the fans. While in Niagara, Brendan brought an exciting package of on ice tools that wowed fans for 4 seasons. He combined skill, size, fantastic speed and a pro shot to keep the building on its toes each night, and was an integral part in our Eastern Conference Championship season in 2016. Not only was Brendan exciting to watch on a nightly basis, but he carried himself like a pro off the ice, was a great ambassador for the region and the IceDogs, and always handled himself with poise and class. Myself and the entire IceDogs organization would like to congratulate Brendan on receiving this prestigious honour, and wish him the best of luck in his continued professional career!”
The entire IceDogs organization would like to congratulate Brendan on his achievement and wish him nothing but success in his NHL career with the Arizona Coyotes!
