IceDogs Drop Friday Night Matchup vs Flint 4-0
The IceDogs hit the road tonight to begin their annual Michigan roadtrip. Tonight, they took on the Flint Firebirds, looking to continue the success they’ve had against Flint since the Firebirds joined the OHL; the IceDogs have won both meetings between the organizations.
The IceDogs looked to set the tone early, but penalties would be the story to start the period. Both goalies played well to keep their teams alive in the period. The period finished with a solid penalty kill by the IceDogs, and they were looking to ride that momentum into the 2nd period.
In another penalty filled period, the IceDogs and the Firebirds exchanged chances at both ends. Stephen Dhillon made a huge save on a penalty shot to keep the game scoreless. Halfway through the second, however, Flint scored to take the 1-0 lead. Flint would capitalize twice more before the end of the period to take the 3-0 lead into the 3rd.
The Firebirds scored to add another early in the 3rd, to make it 4-0. The score would hold, and the IceDogs dropped a tough loss to the Firebirds to open their 3 in 3 this weekend.
The ‘Dogs travel to Saginaw to take on the Spirit tomorrow night at 7:00pm.
The IceDogs return home on December 8th as they host the Sault Ste Marie Greyhounds in their annual Teddy Bear Toss game.
