Noel and McShane named to Team Canada Training Camp Roster for the 2018 World U18 Championships
Oshawa, ON- Hockey Canada announced today that Oshawa Generals forwards Serron Noel and Allan McShane have made Team Canada’s training camp roster for the 2018 IIHF World U18 Championships. The team will play in Russia later this month.
Noel was selected by the Oshawa Generals during the 2nd round, 25th overall in the 2016 OHL Priority Selection. This season he more than doubled his point totals from the previous year (28 G + 25 A = 53 PTS) and climbed the NHL draft rankings in the process. Noel is eligible for the 2018 NHL Draft in Dallas this June. Noel previously won gold with Hockey Canada at the Ivan Hlinka last August.
McShane was traded to the Generals in January of last year in his rookie season and has been a key contributor in the lineup ever since. The OHL first round selection in his first full season with the Generals reached the 20-goal mark for the first time in his career and finished with a season best of 65 points. Also eligible for the 2018 NHL Draft, McShane has appeared in NHL Draft rankings consistently all season.
Team Canada will play its preliminary round in Group A facing Belarus, Sweden, Switzerland and the United States.
The 2018 IIHF World U18 Championships will take place from April 19th-29th in Chelyabinsk and Magnitogorsk Russia.
