Kyle MacLean – Player Series
The Generals selected Kyle MacLean with their fourth round pick in the 2015 OHL Draft. MacLean committed to the Generals on July 12, 2015. The 16-year old played his AAA hockey with the New Jersey Rockets. In his draft season, the young forward recorded 23 points in 26 games.
“Kyle’s a player that had many options with NCAA and USDP, but we’re thrilled that he chose to come to the OHL and the Oshawa Generals. This is his best possible route to continue to grow as a player and as a student,” said Oshawa Generals General Manager, Roger Hunt at the time of MacLean’s commitment.
MacLean is the son of former Oshawa General John MacLean. John played three seasons with the Generals before being drafted by the New Jersey Devils in 1983. Kyle was eventually born in Basking Ridge, New Jersey in 1999.
In his first season with the Generals, MacLean has shown his high hockey IQ and never-quit mentality. The feisty young winger likes to make plays for his teammates and is not afraid of going to the dirty areas of the ice to retrieve the puck.
So far in 2015-2016, MacLean has played in 37 games with the Generals, registering six points and 28 penalty minutes. The young left winger will be a valuable part of the Generals offense as the team grows.
