Bryan Boyes and Peter Sidorkiewicz to be inducted into Oshawa Sports Hall of Fame
The Oshawa Generals are proud to announce that Head Athletic Trainer and Equipment Manager Bryan Boyes will be inducted into the Oshawa Sports Hall of Fame. Bryan has worked with the Generals since 1976, when he joined the team as a stick boy at the age of 14. In 1982 he was given his title of Head Athletic Trainer and Equipment Manager and he has held the title ever since.
Bryan is no stranger to championships. Since 1983, he has been a part of a Generals team that has won the OHL Championship four times in 1983, 1987, 1990, and 1997 and the Memorial Cup once in 1990.
Bryan has not only been the Generals’ Equipment Manager, but has played that role several times on the international level with Team Canada at both the World Junior Championships and the 2010 Mens World Championships, which was held in Germany. Getting the honour six times for the Juniors, his most recent appearance was the 2012 Championships that were held in Calgary and Edmonton. His five other appearances included Ottawa (2009), Vancouver (2006), North Dakota (2005), Winnipeg (1999), and Boston (1996). Canada has brought home gold four out of the six times Bryan has been there.
Another General, goalie Peter Sidorkiewicz, will be inducted into the Oshawa Sports Hall of Fame as well. Playing with the Generals from 1980-84, Peter’s best season with Oshawa was 1982-83 when the Generals won the OHL Championship. Peter posted a record of 36 wins, 20 losses, and 3 ties along with a 3.61 Goals-Against-Average. Peter was drafted by Washington Capitals, but played his 7 NHL seasons with the Hartford Whalers, Ottawa Senators, and New Jersey Devils. He is now a coach with the Erie Otters.
