Round 3 Game 2: Generals shutout the Battalion to gain series lead by two
Oshawa, Ont., – The Oshawa Generals shut out the North Bay Battalion 3-0 in Game Two of the Eastern Conference Finals, giving them a 2-0 series lead.
Jacob Oster recorded his second career playoff shutout turning away all 22 shots he faced, Rasmus Kumpulainen picked up his second goal of the playoffs, while Calum Ritchie had two assists.
The Oshawa Generals opened the scoring late in the first period when Kumpulainen fired a shot from the blue line that found its way through traffic and into the back of the to make it 1-0 Gens.
Oshawa would add to their lead in the second this time on the powerplay, as the puck came to Calum Ritchie who fired a shot that Stuart Rolofs got his stick on it deflecting the puck past Mike McIvor giving the Gens a 2-0 lead.
It was all Oshawa in the third period, as they outshot North Bay 20-3 in the final frame, the Gens capped things off with an empty netter from Beckett Sennecke as he tucked it in making it 3-0.
The boys will hit the road and enter enemy territory tomorrow evening as they take on the Battalion in Game Three Monday evening and then Game Four on Wednesday.
