Round 2 Game 2: Gens defend home ice with fire against 67’s
Oshawa, Ont., – The Oshawa Generals dominated the Ottawa 67’s in game two winning 6-1 giving the Gens a 2-0 series lead.
Beckett Sennecke picked up the first star scoring twice in the victory and it was Jacob Oster in net making 30 saves on 31 shot attempts.
Much like Game One, Ottawa would open the scoring as Caden Kelly threw the puck to the front of the net and it was Chris Barlas chipping it over Oster before jamming it into the net to make it 1-0 67’s.
The Gens would answer back, getting their first of the game from captain Stuart Rolofs who deflected a Rasmus Kumpulainen shot past the Ottawa goalie for his first goal of the playoffs tying the game at 1-1
With just over a minute to go, Oshawa would strike again as Rolofs got the puck to Ben Danford and the defenceman went top shelf for his first career OHL playoff goal making it 2-1 Generals.
Oshawa would keep the pressure coming in the second as the Gens turned defence into offence, picking up the puck in their end and carrying it down the ice before Matthew Buckley snapped a shot into the back of the net making it 3-1 Generals.
A little over a minute later, Sennecke would give it to Calum Ritchie before getting it right back, the winger then fired a shot that beat Collin MacKenzie to make it 4-1 Oshawa.
The Gens would build on the lead in the third period as Luca D’Amato found Dylan Roobroeck streaking in and the big man fired a shot past MacKenzie making it 5-1 Generals.
One minute later Oshawa would strike again this time it was Sennecke getting his second of the game weaving his way through Ottawa and around MacKenzie before tucking the puck in giving the Gens a 6-1 lead.
Oshawa will now travel to Ottawa for Games Three and Four to determine the rest of their playoff fortune.
