Round 2 Game 1: Generals seek payback on 67’s to open Second Round
Oshawa, Ont., – The Oshawa Generals kick off Round Two of the playoffs as they take on the Ottawa 67’s in a rematch from last year.
The Gens are coming off a Rirst-Round win against the Barrie Colts. After dropping Game One of the series 4-2 at the Tribute Communities Centre, Oshawa stormed back winning three in a row. The Colts would win Game Five before the Generals wrapped it up on the road in Game Six.
Ottawa entered this one after taking down the third-place Brantford Bulldogs. The 67’s First Round played out similar to the Gens dropping the first game before winning three in a row, and much like Oshawa, they dropped Game Five before winning in Game Six.
Last Meeting
The last time these two teams hit the ice against each other, it was the Oshawa Generals taking down the Ottawa 67’s 5-4 on home ice.
Luca Marrelli kicked things off in the first period scoring his fourth of the season and after the 67’s responded, Dylan Roobroeck would find the back of the net to put the Gens up 2-1 before the intermission.
Under five minutes into the second, Tyler Graham would score adding to the lead. That kicked off a back-and-forth period as Ottawa would cut the lead once again, then it was Punnett scoring to double the lead, just for Ottawa to cut it in half.
The 67’s would tie the game to start the third period, but it was Luke Torrance playing hero scoring with just over six minutes left in the game.
