Jacob Oster named OHL Goaltender of the Week
Oshawa, Ont., – After three consecutive games seeing at least 30 shots, Jacob Oster has been named the OHL’s Goaltender of the Week.
In three games last weekend, Oster had three straight incredible outings. It started on Thursday night in Peterborough, while despite a 3-2 loss, Oster stopped 48/51 shots he faced. The very next night against the same Petes, Oster stopped 38/40 shots this time for the 3-2 victory. An off day on Saturday gave the 04-born tender to get enough rest for another start on Sunday night. Against the Brantford Bulldogs, a team he struggled against earlier this season, Oster slammed the door and stopped 28/30 shots for a big 6-2 win.
His efforts earned him second-star honours on both Thursday and Friday nights.
The honours should come as no surprise after a 2-1 weekend, with a 2.34 goals-against average and an outstanding .944 save percentage.
Entering his first full season as the Generals starter, Oster has kept his team in games on a night-in and night-out basis, and in 14 games, has an overall record of 7-7-0-0, a 3.15 goals against average and a .909 save percentage.
