Generals wrap weekend up with devastating overtime
Oshawa, Ont., – The Oshawa Generals fall for the second night in a row as they dropped this one 3-2 against the Ottawa 67’s in overtime.
It was a game filled with milestones as Connor Lockhart picked up his 200th Ontario Hockey League point, David Bedkowski played his 100th game, and Stuart Rolofs played his 200th career game.
After a slow first period with little action, it was Ottawa opening the scoring on a powerplay as Luca Pinelli found Samuel Mayer streaking in and the defenceman snapped it past Oster for a 1-0 67’s lead.
Ottawa would keep things going in the second period, this time it was Oshawa powerplay, the Gens turned the puck over at the blue line and Jack Dever skated in alone snapping a shot five-hole making it 2-0 67’s.
But the Generals would respond later in the frame as Connor Lockhart found Rolofs in the slot and the captain fired it past the Ottawa goalie cutting the score to 2-1 Ottawa.
It took most of the third period, but the Gens would tie the game when Luca Marrelli sprung Calum Ritchie on a breakaway, after being denied once the centre tapped in the rebound making it 2-2.
For the second game in a row, the Generals went to overtime and for the second time, they would fall as Henry Mews tapped in a rebound ending the game.
