Generals to Face Off Against Frontenacs in Season Opener
Oshawa, ON. – The Oshawa Generals will open the regular season on the road against the Kingston Frontenacs at Slush Puppie Place. The Generals had an incredible season in 2023-24, making the OHL Cup finals, but falling just short to the London Knights.
The Generals have many potential players returning from the exciting 2023-24 season such as Calum Ritchie, Dylan Roobroeck and Beckett Sennecke, who is currently out with a foot fracture. Oshawa has also made some key additions throughout the off-season, trading for Tyler O’Toole from the Sarnia Sting and adding two first-round picks to the roster; forwards Lauri Sinivuori (via import draft) and Brady Smith (via 2024 OHL Priority draft).
Kingston also had a busy offseason with a lot of turnovers in their roster over the summer months. They will look to stay competitive after finishing with over a .500 record and making the OHL playoffs before being knocked out in the first round by the North Bay Batallion.
For the Frontenacs, their home opener will be the second game of the regular season, after a grand 7-2 win against the Peterborough Petes in their season opener.
The Generals and Frontenacs split their eight games against each other in 2023-24. Neither team took advantage on home ice and seven out of the eight games were decided by one or two goals. But the Generals should definitely have the advantage this year, as the team is considered Eastern Conference favourites, heading into the 2024-25 season.
Last season, Dylan Roobroeck, Calum Ritchie and Becket Sennecke finished over a point per game in the eight games against Kingston. With all three most likely out of the lineup tonight due to NHL training camps and injury, the Generals will look to others to step up in their absence.
Watch tonight’s game on Rogers TV, CHL TV or listen on Oshawa Generals Radio. Puck drop at 7:00 PM.
