Generals leave Kingston with 5-3 victory
Oshawa, Ont., – The Oshawa Generals arrived at the Leon’s Centre for another chapter against the Kingston Frontenacs for a Friday night East Division smackdown, where
An immediate 57 seconds into first, Captain Stuart Rolofs and Assistant Captain Calum Ritchie extended their point streaks. Ritchie with the tap-in after a stretched pass from Rolofs through the slot made for Ritchie’s 18th of the season. This dynamic duo gave Ritchie his 17th point in seven games and Rolofs his 24th point in a 13-game run.
Kingston would not leave that one unanswered when Luke McNamara deposited his seventh of the season to a wrap-around just sliding under Jacob Oster’s pad.
Kingston picked up the lead with six minutes remaining when Tyler Hopkins had the puck meet the mesh with a snipe just above Oster’s blocker for his fourth of the season and leading the Fronts up by 1.
2:48 into the second, the Generals picked up their first powerplay on an interference call from Matthew Soto. A tic-tac-toe execution from Luca Marrelli, Ritchie, and Rasmus Kumpulainen allowed for the equalizer after Kumpulainen fired it to the back of the net after being left wide open in the slot.
Luke Torrance joined in on the second-period action as Luca D’Amato dumped the puck into the offensive zone and Dylan Roobroeck picked it up along the boards before sliding it to Torrance who brought it home. The Oshawa native grabbed his 13th of the season and gave the Gens the lead as they entered the final 20.
Just four minutes into the third, it was Tristan Delisle who made a couple smooth moves before sending the puck to Tyler Graham’s stick who then deked out Fronts goalie Mason Vaccari with the unsolicited backhand, doubling the lead with an insurance goal.
Kingston would respond just a few minutes later after Adam Cavallin bounced the puck off of the back of the net and sent a feed to Gage Heyes, who dropped and put everything he had behind his shot putting it passed Oster for a one goal difference.
Generals Mattew Buckley grabbed the insurance goal in the Fronts empty net with just 98 seconds to go.
The Generals will return home this Sunday for a contest with the Bulldogs before Kingston visits Oshawa for a rare Tuesday Matchup.
