Generals finally get monkey off the back versus Bulldogs
Oshawa, Ont., – A goal and three assists for Connor Lockhart in his Oshawa debut as the Generals beat the Brantford Bulldogs 6-2.
The newly acquired winger wasted no time getting to work picking up four points and first star in his first game as a Gen. Oshawa had five other Generals with multi-point games and Jacob Oster made 30 saves in the win.
The Bulldogs opened the scoring just under seven minutes into the game when Marek Vanacker was circling around the top of the zone before shooting through a crowd of players and straight past Oster making it 1-0 Brantford.
It didn’t take long for Lockhart to pick up his first point for the Oshawa Generals chipping the puck in deep for Beckett Sennecke, who made a nice dish out front to Kumpulainen who beat Matteo Drobac to tie the game at one.
Just a short while later after some sustained pressure in the Brantford end Matthew Buckley fed the puck across to Ben Danford who wristed it toward the net and it was Torrance getting a stick on it to redirect it into the net making it 2-1 Gens.
After a couple of big saves by Oster to start the second period the Generals were able to get the offence rolling when Torrance finished off a nice passing play scoring his second of the game, 3-1 Oshawa.
Less than two minutes later the Gens would get another one as Lockhart slid the puck to Kumpulainen who knocked it back to D’Amato for a one-timer that the defenceman blew past Drobac to make it 4-1 Generals.
With four and a half minutes to go in the second period, it was Lockhart scoring his first as a member of the Oshawa Generals when Kumpulainen dumped the puck in and managed to find its way onto the new guys stick making it 5-1 Oshawa.
To start the third, it was a new goalie in net for the Bulldogs as they turned to David Egorov after the Gens were able to score five times on 20 shots through two periods.
The Generals were not done scoring, on a 5-on-3 it was Luca Marrelli sliding it to Lockhart who went across the seam to Buckley for a one-timer making it 6-1 Generals.
Brantford would get one back on the powerplay as the puck came to Patrick Thomas with Oster out of his net and the centre buried his third of the season to make it 6-2 Oshawa.
