GAME RECAP HOUNDS 8 GENS 5
After coming of off a loss in Subury last night the Generals headed to Sault Ste. Marie Saturday night to face the Greyhounds. The game was high scoring, fast paced and entertaining as both teams fought for the lead. Both teams struggled to keep the lead as this game played out like a rollercoaster, with the lead never staying in favor of one team for long. Playing the second game in the 2016/2017 season with a mostly young roster as Cirelli, Vande Sompel, Stillman and Brodeur still away at NHL training camps. New Generals such as Noel, Krastenbergs, Antropov, Gottschalk, and Ennis received lots of ice time in this high scoring game.With many penalties and not there normal roster the Generals were defeated by Greyhounds 8-5.
1st Period
Verbeek opened the scoring for the Greyhounds at 4:01 assisted by Miller and Mercier.
MacIntyre scored the second goal assisted by Frost and Gritz. Domenic Commisso scored the first goal for the Generals assisted by Eric Henderson.
2nd Period
Robbie Burt scored the second goal for the Generals, Assisted by Allison and Robertson. Manchurek kept the pressure finding the back door next assisted by Studnicka.
3:48 into the third, the Generals swapped Mundell for Keyser in goal.
At the 5 minute mark Burt finds the net and scores his second goal of the game, assisted by Huether.
At the 14:00 mark, Miller scored his third goal, assisted by Timmins and MacIntyre during the Power-Play.
The Generals kept pressure through out the game, but with many penalties and under strength roster the Gens fell victim to the Sault Ste. Marie Greyhounds.
