GAME DAY: GENS VS BATTALION
The Gens are back on home ice this afternoon to host the North Bay Battalion on Superhero night in Oshawa presented by 94.9 The Rock. The Gens will wear specially designed Superhero jerseys which will be auctioned off after the game in support of Children’s Wish Foundation. So far this weekend the Gens have split a pair of games losing Thursday night to the Windsor Spitfires and beating the Sarnia Sting on Friday.
This will be the fourth meeting of the season and the Gens hold a convincing 2-1 lead, outscoring the Battalion 14-9 in those games. Over the last five seasons the Battalion have only won once in Oshawa, a record the Gens will look to improve upon. Jack Studnicka is one of a few who have had the Battalion’s number this season, tallying three goals and two assist and his teammates will look to him to set the tone, and is also on a four game point streak.
The Gens defence will have to keep an eye on Brett McKenzie who has 6 points in his last 5 games and leads the Battalion with 55 points. The Gens goaltenders have put up polar opposite performances this weekend and will look to end the weekend off with a win streak. In last Friday’s win seven different players recorded a multi-point game, and Jeremy Broduer who got his second assist of the season.
